Have you used Office 2007 yet and wondered why the UI has changed (the Ribbon Bar) in some applications and not in others (eg Outlook)?

I love Office 2007.  If you have not yet downloaded or played with it, pop along to http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/beta/overview.mspx to either download the bits or even better - played with it online without download the software!.

There is also a nice set of videos, including a one on the UI to be found at http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/ui/video.mspx?showIntro=n and a fuller set of info at http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/ui/highlights.mspx?showIntro=n

However, this is a little polished, so you might also want to go browse these two blog entries for more specific information:

that was it - simple, but hopefully effective.

I'm having problems with Office 2007 Excel because it became the default Excel after installation and it does not support scroll bars in charts, no line charts with 2 axes, no workspace capability (at least I can't get any of these to work), and once a file is opened with 07 Excel but saved in 97-03 file type, there are problems saving the file when it's used with Excel 2000. Thus, how do I change so that Excel 2007 is NOT the default Excel when I click an Excel file icon?

Harry,

I am not sure exactly what you want to see.  2 Axis in charts is not a problem - have a look at http://uksbsguy.com/images/excel_chart.png.  Can you tell me what you mean by "workspace capability" and why you want scroll bars - are these in a chart in a chart sheet by itself or one embedded in a workbook?  Also, you should not be having file format problems - can you e-mail me a small sample file that does not open correctly - both xls & xlsx ([email protected]).

Finally, to select which program opens an excel file, right click on an excel file, select the "open with" item from the menu, then "choose program" and select your old version of Excel and tick the box to always use that program.

Hi, I use an IBM/Lenovo T60 notebook, standard issue from the large corporate I work for. The feature to scroll down using the pointer in the middle of the keyboard does not work in Excel 2007 or Word 2007. The funny thing is I can scroll sideways in excel, just not up and down!

Any suggestions?
