Lets be honest, when it comes to searching a desktop's files, Vista is the best.  When it comes to searching the internet, some other vendors do a pretty good job.  Now, to help you search all the files in your business you can search the whole lot through a server appliance.  Now that might not be that exciting, but it is important that you use something that is designed to search business files and not the internet as the search engine here.
