An amazing deal for UK Students to get Office 2007 ULTIMATE for £39 to own or £13 per year to "rent it" - tell them all about it!

This offer is called "The Ultimate Steal" and I have to say I can see why.  Microsoft is now offering Office 2007 to university students for the sort of price that would normally suggest this was a con or stolen software, although as Steve Clayton has already verified, it is real.  The Offer is simple

"Get Microsoft® Office Ultimate 2007 for just £38.95 to own or £12.95 to use for one year"

As I said this is only open for people in education, but if you go to The Ultimate Steal presented by Microsoft you can get lots more info.  A summary, but not complete, eligibility requirements are:

  • You must hold a valid email address at a U.K. educational institution ending in .ac.uk (for example, [email protected])
  • Be actively enrolled with at least 0.5 course load.
  • You must be able to provide proof of enrollment status (ie, student card) upon request by Microsoft. If you are unable to provide proof of enrollment, you will be required to pay the full retail price of Office Ultimate 2007 (approximate ERP £599.99).

Here is how it works:

  1. Buy the product offer you want
  2. Download it or order a CD
  3. Enter your product key and use away

You can download the Office Ultimate 2007 trial software anytime but to gain unrestricted access, you’ll need to activate it by entering a genuine product key!

Own it.

Use it for one year.

I think this is pretty amazing!!

Great deal, but it's a great pity it's not open to Primary & Secondary students. My lad is in Primary aged 10 and used Word, Excel & Powerpoint every week for course work.

Or alternatively walk into any PCWorld and buy a student license off the shelf - no questions asked!!

The only issue I have with these sort of deals is that by the time you have got all the information you need 'as required' it becomes a long and drawn out affair and with the margins so low is it really worth our time getting involved? Not really

MS need to swap around the way student licenses are issued. It would be easier for OEMs to buy the license, sell the product with an agreement with the end user that they have to produce the documentation otherwise they will be invoiced for the full amount or perhaps some code which checks on student status, and when its not completed or is defaulted it locks the software until an appropriate license is purchased.

As it stands its all about asking for details, waiting, faxing to Suppliers / MS, waiting for the supplier to confirm.

I usually say the end user - ask for software when you get to school / college / Uni because its cheaper and a lot less bother for me.

Terry,

Home and Student edition does not have so much in it compared to this offer for Office Ultimate Edition and costs more.  Also, you buy, give your university e-mail and that is it most of the time.  I don't think this is very complex.  History has shown that OEMs aren't very good at the auditing of academic licenses, which is why the process has got more strict.

I think every offer Microsoft makes to customers, no matter which route is a good thing.  This is incredibly simple to deliver and everyone wins.

thanks

David

IncidentOffice,

Are you aware of the Home and Student version of Office.  You can buy it for less than £90 and install it on 3 PCs in the family.  This would help your children get the latest software for less than £30 per PC.

thanks

David

Thanks David, I wasn't aware of the fact you could install on 3 PC's which is perfect for our scenario of 2 kids! Still a shame you can't get Ultimate but hey, it's better than a poke in the eye!

we got recommended www.software4students.co.uk by our school, you are not limited to a .ac.uk e-mail (I don't have one), as far as I can tell you just need to know someone in education and they seem to have a lot more products, the site is recommended by Microsoft,  I suppose it's another option.

Firstly Id like to start by saying this could be the best thing microsoft has EVER done. I have used this promotion and recieved microsoft office ultimate for £50 (the licencse + plus the OEM CD). Unfortunatley at the time of writing this it had ended but I'd recommend it to any student, as it may start up again at any moment. There is no long trails of paper work as some reviews above seem to suggest. The deal does sound to good to be true so like me you will be very suspicous but it worked out very well. CD came within 4days (shipped from the US) and was up and away within a few hours.

Definitly worth doing if like me your in the middle of your A2 exams on your way to uni as all academic establishments are upgrading to office 2007.

As they say in ebay A++++ seller would definitley do the transaction again!

Take the plunge now and save yourself £300 !

Not that great, is it. A lot of people go to community colleges in the states where they never give students an email address - the educators do, but students, no. So I am a student and I can't even participate. Having an .edu email address is so stupid.

Sandaili,

The US and UK schemes are different.  You college might be able to broker the deal for you.  Look at the US version of the site for more information.

Thanks

David
