Am quite excited to see it here, am surprised that the migration wizard only supports sage. Most of my experience has been that my customers who are "small businesses" are using quickbooks, and are really looking for a place to jump ship.  Quickbooks has some striking omiisions such as the virtual inability to process a supplier refund! I really hope that ms accounting fairs much better and would eventually have a migration path. Even if they used the exported iifs to import data, it would be fairly simple job to create

Any idea if this will be included in the next MAPS update?

I am quite excited about this product, can't stand Sage.

Grant,

at the moment I believe that Quickbooks import is done via Excel.  Have a look in the help file and search for Quickbooks.

thanks

David

Did not the beta in the US have add on for importing from Quickbooks?

If it cannot directly import from Quickbooks it going to be of limited use!

I have been anticipating this release for some time, as I particularly dislike Sage (both their licensing model and their product!). As soon as you have an import facility that supports Line50 2007 (v13) I will be ordering the product. I already downloaded the trial and had a play - looks good so far!

Any idea how the database for MSOA 2008 works. I use Quickbooks and merely backup the database, copy it to a Flash disk and give it to my accountant. I see MSOA links with Outlook etc. Does that mean my accountant will get all my emails etc if we swap databases or does it have its own file one can back up and copy over?

Murray,

Office Accounting has its own database stored completely seperately from Outlook's mail store.   There is also a button to create a copy of your accounts for your accountant, making it easier for you to do, as well as the option to share with your accountant online.

thanks

Have had a play with OAP2008 and while initial impressions are good, we have a problem in recommending this to any of our customers running Quickbooks as there seems to be no easy data migration path for this. There is an MS download (transaction migration update) which installs OK but then gives no other options to import QB data ! I suspect that this is either intended to work with US release or just doesn't work with the trial ?

Real shame - we would be one of the first to jump ship and move to OAP should this facility be available !

I have used Microsoft Money 98 happily for years. My main need is to download and recocile multipl,e bank statements which Money 98 does well. But Money 2005 does not. Does this new system allow staement downloads and subsequent checking of each transaction before accepting into the main account register. Also, can it import files from Microsoft Money 98 or 2005 please?

David, do you know if there are plans to ship this as part of the UK action pack?  Currently "Microsoft Office Accounting Professional 2007 currently does not ship outside of the United States."

There is a Quickbooks import tool called the "Office Accounting 2008 Transaction Migration Update" at www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

Unfortunately it doesn't work with the trial version of Accounting Professional 2008 and it is precisely the import from Quickbooks that I want to test before buying! Has anyone found a solution?

When I bought 'Accounting Professional' I was told it shares a data base for contact information with Outlook's 'Business Contact Manager'.

While the Customer information is automatically shared in 'Outlook' the 'Supplier' information isn't and trying to find out how to achieve this is a nightmare !

If anybody knows please email me:

Thanks

I too am waiting for the import from Sage version 13. Once that can happen, our company will jump at purchasing this product.

Whats the time frame for getting the import from Sage version 13?

It would be good to know if you have hit problems importing from Sage 13 - while it is not supported yet, I know people have had success here.  Let me know what your experience is.

Thanks

I have had problems importing from Sage v13.  Not expecting and answer, just letting you know what my experience is.  My import fails with "Diagnostic - [MOA_DM_E2002] The Company account cannot be saved. Tax agencies must post to a balance account.

Error - [MOA_DM_E2001] Migration stopped because of a fatal error. "

Thanks.

Looking forward to a release that supports v13.

Had a look at the trial. Looking good.

Use QB2008 after upgrade from 2004. Nightmare!

Interested in availability vis MAPS and migration from QB.

Pricing seems very reasonable in any case.

Will keep an eye on things before jumping from frying pan...
