Look on the bright side - next time we all meet up we'll all be able to compare battle scars. I'm glad it hasn't put you off sailing - that's the spirit! I hope you're getting lots of sympathy from everyone. Go easy and we hope it heals quickly.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If the top of the finger stays, then then nail should as the nail bed is completely unharmed. &amp;nbsp;If however the top of the finger does not take, then I just loose an inch of the finger - nail, nail bed &amp;amp; all :-)&lt;/p&gt;

Having dropped a (rather heavy) wardrobe on my fingers a couple of years ago while moving number 2 son, and ending up in what looks like a similar state, I can sympathise.

It does get better!  (After losing the nails, but you didin't want to know that).
