Absolutely! I don't think Linus Torvalds would be giving Richard Stallman any group hugs at the moment!! Also, I've finally switched to SBS 2003 from Linux running Samba and it feels good! Now, do you know of a place to get a third party certificate so I can sync my Windows Mobile 5.0 device to the SBS Server?

I don't disagree with you - it is just interesting to see the debate going on. I like some OSS software, but still choose to put my effort into Microsoft as I believe the value they deliver to both customers and partners is worth while.

It is just often presented as a very happy family with lots of group hugs. At the end of the day, it is businesses for everyone - those giving their time freely and those who make money from it. It is sometimes a moral decision, sometimes a business one and often a personal one, but it is not all "free" in every meaning of the word - just some.

I still hate modifying other's source code, so while I might be free to do so, I prefer to pay someone else to do that for me :-;

Linus Torvalds, the creator and maintainer of the Linux Kernel, has got some very choice words about the GPL v3! I've got some links to this argument from an earlier blog post I did http://www.iqubed.biz/blog/?p=67 His argument is that it's basically becoming too much of a "Freedom at any cost" argument and that this is the only true and moral way according to the Free Software Foundation. I think Linus has a point here and you have to be pragmatic about these things.
