&lt;p&gt;Also, having played with both, some would say ODF is not always the easiest to XPath data out of.&lt;/p&gt;

The ODF is an ISO standard and at the ECMA, IBM was not happy about this. May be then Microsoft wouldn't have to do all this lobbying in Massachussetts just because they want to use the ODF.&lt;/p&gt;
