I sort of agree with you about the Wizards - yes you need to be able to understand what happens on a system, but the wizards are great time saving tools.

Also, with the next product when it ships, starting to understand it by the wizards will be a good 1st step, then delving in deeper as needed. I suspect a great HarryB book on the next version of SBS will be out just in time, plus a tour de force for everyone to play and discuss it in the community.

Your point about training is very valid however, provided you remember to think small. Exchange 2007 training is out there and should be taken advantage of. ISA and SQL too, but this is less change. Finally Longhorn is emerging and in beta and for those who want to stay ahead of the curve, this is also something to look at, but only bother with the x64 versions :-)

No, we did not use the Transition Pack; As a matter of fact, there is no "transition" from 2003 to Exchange 2007, it's a straight up migration.

As for the wizards... I mean, lets face it, they are highly overrated. The ones that are in SBS were meant to allow business owners to connect their servers to the Internet, they were not meant as the replacement of IT skills our peers are supposed to have. If all you know is wizards you'll be out of business and unemployable in a year or so. Although Longhorn and Exchange 2007 rely on wizards a lot to save time and centralize management, getting from 2003 to 2007 is not gonna be a click-through, start training.
