It came installed with Vista TM. It worked fine at first until one day 7 mths later it prompted me for a product key to activate Vista. I thought this was odd because it hadn't done this upon initial start-up but I enter the Product Key from the bottom of my computer anyway and got a invalid product key error. Annoyed as I was, instead of smashing it with a hammer, I just tossed it in storage for a while and forgot about it. I recently looked at it again and said screw it. Maybe I can install XP over it because XP had never given me any trouble... It didn't work... so I get a new hdd only to find out that a lot of the drivers were incompatible after the install. I kept the orginal hdd... if I wanted to take a crack at Vista again... could I use the Windows Anytime Upgrade disk? And how if it doesn't detect any of the original drivers...? I hate sitting on the phone for tech support because I'm overseas and not only is it inconvenient, it's costs sitting on hold for hours... any suggestions?

I have done a Windows Anytime Upgrade using one of the links above. The Sony one and it worked.

This is going from Windows Vists Business to Ultimate.

You pay, Download the small file, then put your ActionPack Windows Vista Business Upgrade DVD in and do an upgrade.

Naturally during the upgrade process you choose the option to leave your existing files/folders intact.

It took a good hour on my machine.

But all is well.

Being an working consultant I am VAT registered so the cost is £68+VAT or (£80 including VAT)

Thanks for the Tip David.

Windows Vista, Windows XP, Office 2003 and Office 2007 Action Pack Update - my FAQ

[last updated 13th Feb 2007 - 10:00 am] Inside Microsoft we have been toiling very hard to provide solutions
