Myles,

there are a few tools that do not load,. but the MODI is not one to my knowledge. Some tools only work on 32-bit Windows (Vista/XP/Windows 7).

What was the error message you saw?

HI, I have a Visual Studio app that incorporates MODI. I have two versions, one with the 11 and the other with the 12 libraries. I attempted an install on a Vista Ultimate machine running 2003 office pro and the app failed because the MODI would not load. Tried to run the Microsoft Office Document Imager on its own but as soon as I clicked file it thru an error. Went into programs and settings clicked the repair on office and tried agan and got the same message. Do all of the 2003 office tools work on vista ultimate?

I have been struggling since morning to install Office 2003 on ona new vista home premium machine. It has been giving error -2349. I did a complete System Restore and now it is giving error "Install corrupted". I have 2 seprate set of disks with 2 separate set of licenses. I am getting the same error on both the disks.

I have alsor tried copying the CD contents on the Hard disk still the same error.

David - you seem to have the wrong end of the stick completely about Microsoft. Microsoft is easily the company that looks after it's customers more than any other and that the company is defined by employees like me. We are company of people and we are encouraged and sometimes rewarded for sharing information in this way. I could not share the tips I know without others, including the management teams inside Microsoft sharing and supporting.

Sometimes, I can share a tip for something that is no longer supported and this is why an unsupported statement comes from someone like me. It also enables me to feed back into Microsoft in a way others can't and Microsoft reacts. On a forum just yesterday someone was telling me about a file delete problem. I now have Windows 7 engineers looking as to how to fix the problem. That is the company I work for - I'm part of the system helping people and filtering the noise that hits the receivers. I'm also one of thousands doing this as part of doing my "real" job because I'm passionate about technology and users, which is what Microsoft desires for employees.

While you might think it less than ideal to have people like me doing this, bear in mind that Microsoft has a 5yr mainstream support policy and then 5 yr extended (security bug fixes for business software) which is way better than every other major software or service provider on the planet.

I work with other software companies and almost all of them would say "tough" or "buy the latest version" as the only two answers.

So, my talents are doing exactly what my employer wants me to do, which includes spending some time helping others.

I hope that helps share a perspective from this side of the fence.

David, Your response is brilliant. It saddens me, however, that someone of your talent is working for a company that has created this mess in the first place. Reading through the responses, I get a sense of countless hours being spent on this and other such issues. You are very kind and generous to respond to all of these concerns, but in a sense Microsoft's job is being done for it without being paid which I believe is unjust. Just a thought, David

Thanks for your great fix for this issue, don't think i have ever found such a helpful fix as this. It was kinda idiot friendly :). Glad to see Microsoft decided not to to fix this issue ever :( how else could you still be helping people 2 years on :)

Wow Dave - awesome. I just installed MS Office 2003 on my new Vista Premium system, by Dell, and every time I started Outlook or Word the EULA came up. I accepted it every time. And it happened over again. I followed your instructions, and wallah! It worked.

Hello Dave,

In Access, I am trying to print some reports that work on non-Vista systems. When I try and print the reports with Vista, I get a 'The OpenReport Action was canceled' pop-up. Is there an available patch I could install? I've already installed the main service pack for Vista.

Thank you David. Having installed Office 2003 it was irritating to keep on having to click Accept EULA. I followed your Step 7 and it worked perfectly. Step 7 was easy to follow, but I did hesitate about BLUE UAC; there were blue areas but it was not all blue. Anyhow, I took the plunge, with success.

ok i have this tiny problem....well not realy...long story try not to get lost lol

i need powerpoint for homework and stuff and i recently bought a new computer(with vista). Since the computer didn't have powerpoint, i decided to take a copy of powerpoint it self, put it on my USB drive and then drag it into the laptop. Once I did that, I double click on the icon and the program wouldn't open and i get the "the operating system is not presently configured to run this application" error message.

I have no clue what else to do and i can't find the original installation disk for the powerpoint.

Can you please give me an answer to this problem in the simplest terms as possible
