The text in your post seem to be running off the screen in Opera. I'm not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I thought I'd post to let you know. The design and style look great though! Hope you get the issue fixed soon. Many thanks

This is my setup. I'm also in the teaching environment. I have 4 computer labs. I have 48 stand alone computers, in my lab, running XP Pro and Office 2003. At the beginning of 2011 we started using Office 2007 with the grade 10 learners using a different lab. Now that I have them for grade 11 next year I have to install Office 2007 onto my machines but should also have 2003 for the grade 12's

I did the NoReReg registry entry and it works fine since we are not using Outlook. We are not on a domain… just a normal ethernet network.

On each computer I have six profiles. The Administrator, an exam profile which is linked to the server, 2 x gr.11 profiles and 2 x gr.12 profiles. I have two groups of each.

My issue is that I would like the different profiles to automatically use the different office versions. For instance: When a grade 11 learner opens a document, the profile must know to use Office 2007 applications. When a grade 12 learner opens a document, the profile must know to use Office 2003.

I tried to use the ‘Open with’ option, but it cascades through to the other profiles and then the grade 11 profile opens documents using Office 2003.

Is there a way to get pass this problem? Does this even make sense?

Thanks

Martin

I'm attempting to have 2003 and 2010 coexist and having a difficult time of it on my w2k3 TS.

I have bought a copy of Office Pro 2010 and installed it in the same User as Office 2000. By default I would like files with the suffix .xls to open with Office 2000 but Office 2010 has changed them to open with Office 2010.

I have gone into <explorer><tools><folder options><file types> Selected .xls <advanced> selected Open <edit> and then browsed to C:\P~File\|M~O~\Office\excel.exe being the exe file for Office 2000.

It works but when I try to open a file called jack straw.xls (note space) in the folder C:\My Documents Excel 2000 opens and then tells me it cannot find the file C:\My.xls <ok> then it cannot find the file Documents.xls <ok> then it cannot find the file jack.xls

<> then straw.xls and then finally it opens the file

I'm running XP Pro sp3

Its not mission critical but it is a tad annoying. Is there something I can do to correct this?

Thanks

installing under a different user will not change the common files that are shared, so is unlikely to resolve the issue.

Appreciate the time you give to answering questions

I have a Office 2000 installed. I want to keep this and use it as my main MS product especially as it links up with my work computer and some macros there . However I need to install Office Pro 2010 for occasional use of a macro within excel.

Rather than installing it on the same system would it be easier (and less likely to produce conflicts) if I install it on the same pc but under a different user? (I'm running on XP Pro r.3)

I am running 03 and 07 on same computer. When I am using Excel it no longer allows me to link between 2 seperate workbooks. Is there an option I need to click on 03 to make this do'able? In the preferences or something?

The reason I have these 3 versions is that I have MS Access databases in all versions and I absolutely refuse to convert them. And furthermore, I do not install them in any particular order whatsoever - but what I do is install each version of Office in its own folder - e.g. C:\MS Office 4.3, C:\Program Files\MS Office 97, and C:\Program Files\ MS Office 2003. I intend to stick with this set-up when I next install Office 2010. One thing to bear in mind, though, is that you HAVE to decide which version of Outlook to use and then keep that version and do not install any other version. Also, if you have issues with Access 97, it means that you have to upgrade your Microsoft Jet engine.

1. run cmd.exe as an administrator

2. reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Options /v NoReReg /t REG_DWORD /d 1

3. reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Excel\Options /v NoReReg /t REG_DWORD /d 1

4. reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Powerpoint\Options /v NoReReg /t REG_DWORD /d 1

Note: Access 2003 / Access 2010 can not be fixed this way. There is no known solution for Access.
