I have reached the end of my 21 day grace period, but my exchange public folder replication is not complete. It is very slow. It copied 900 MB fairly quickly and since then it has been crawling and reached 1.1Gb with another 500Mb to go. I have completed all other requirements for the migration. Is there anyway this can replication can be forced to complete?

Can I run the finish migration in the migration wizard before this public folder migration is comlpete.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

We are about to start migrating from sbs 2003 to sbs 2008. Right after 2008 is installed what are the necessary steps to take right after installing 2008 to make sure users can login.

If we stop after installing (and dhcp etc is migrated) will the users be able to login and access their exchange 2003 mailboxes so that we have time to migrate the rest when its convenient for us?

I wonder if you have heard of disappearing disk space with SBS 2008?

We migrated from SBS 2003 to SBS 2008 nearly two years ago, and have always had an issue with disappearing disk space. Our IT guy investigated and found that the event log files are just stacking up, and never get automatically deleted.

We are currently running on 1.39GB free space...

Six months ago, our IT guy completely re-installed the software, as prior to this we had upgrade after upgrade, so he was hoping the latest version would fix the issue, but as of today, it's still a problem. He can fix it, but it's never a permanent fix, and just recurs after a few days... Any ideas?

Thank you very much in advance for any help you can give.

so I downloaded www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx, installed in the detault directory and then let it run.

I selected the folder where I had also downloaded Exchange 2007 SP2 (link is on the downloads page above) and extracted it to. The SP2 download extracts to a folder of your choice.

click next a few times in the tool, then run the Exchange setup which is automattically started. Go through the install process, then close the installer. Note the install process takes a little while.

I was then back at the SBS install tool, pressed next and it finished up.

I hope that helps

you need to update your exchange installation. Look at www.microsoft.com/.../results.aspx and you will see Exchange Service Packs (install SP2) and also the roll-ups. Grab the latest ones of those and Exchange should resolve the issues you are seeing.

Anything is possible, however you need to think about the time it will take to move all the data over what would be quite a high latency network. Migrating e-mail might be particualrly time consuming.

The SBS 2008 and SBS 2003 systems will need to think of themselves as being on the same physical network (DNS, DHCP, IP subnet etc).

Thanks

My client just aquired a company and they have sbs 2003. My client would like to migrate to sbs 2008 with a new server in Seattle but the old sbs 2003 box is in Denver where they have a T1. My client has a 10Mbit Ethernet over copper circuit. If we create a VPN with our firewalls, would it be possible to migrate to sbs 2008.

It was quite a ridiculous fix! I had completed the migration successfully and all the DNS was setup properly as well. I was scratching my head on this one for a while. then it occurred to me, I had not rebooted the source server. I was never prompted to and honestly I was so elated that the initial SBS 2008 migration finally completed I was focusing on the destination server issues and ignoring the source server.

The Migration instructions did not specify that the source server needed to be rebooted. Well I rebooted the source server and low and behold all of the issues went away. I was able to replicate the Public Folders, Move Mailboxes and the AD, replication and group policy errors in event log stopped.

Sometimes the solution to a seemingly complex problem is quite simple.

Reboot.

I am having the same issue Rich is having, nothing in the Move Public folder replicas server pull down. If either of you get an answer to this issue please let me know. Reply back here... I don't think it is a DNS issue but could be wrong. I have DNS on both the old SBS2003 and SBS 2008 both have the IP of each other in them and both have the name servers referenced in the forward lookup zones. Still nothing in the pull down... This is frustrating...

It sounds like DNS trouble - check that the SBS 2008 has DNS installed and that the domain is in there. If not, check the DNS settings on SBS 2003 and SBS 2008 and ensure that the DNS points to the Server IP address.

Thanks
