Hi!

Our company recently acquired SBS Standard sp2 for 9-users.  The GM has instructed that only him and the 2 other supervisors should have internet access (for surfing).  Is there a way to implement this?

Also, what's the best way to block Yahoo Messenger?  Our users seems to have forgotten that office time should be dedicated to business productivity and not to personal chat.

Would appreciate your advise.

The standard version doesn't give you any ability to control internet usage or block protocols, You either need ISA server which comes with the premium version, buy a 3rd party proxy sever or get a router with access control built in.

I think some Belkin and Netgear routers will give you user access control including access schedules and port blocking.

If the staff are just not allowed internet access full stop and are not IT savvy you could assign a manual IP and put in a fake Gateway IP and DNS. This will error out IE / Firefox but still allow network access. It also stops IM clients. You may need to make the users 'users' rather than power users so that they can't make any changes, and thus turn everything back on - just a (cheap) thought.
