  • Re: Exchange SP2 Installation Problems

Joe, I have not seen this and I can see no comments about it on support.microsoft.com, so I have asked internally what further info we need from you to help diagnose the issue. thanks David

  • UK SBS GUY & Gals site (uksbsguy.com) up down and round and round

Howdy, I have seen plenty of system failures over the last two weeks and while some nice new hardware is due to arrive soon, I will be moving the whole system to a virtual server environment on another box that has been a stalwart. If you see the site down, it will almost certainly be rebooting - I have identified it two a couple of drivers (either

  • Re: Backup Failiure

Jules, do you have any 612 errors in the event log too? I would suspect an Exchange problem - why not have a look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318429/en-us and see if it helps - work on backups etc as the "cleaning" tool just drops pages with errors in it. You might have a corrupt store - worth checking. ttfn David

  • Cool backup e-mail when it has succeeded & tape changing scripts

Hi guys, I just saw this and decided it is so awesome (as someone told me this one featured paid for an alternative backup product). Put simply, Marina Roos has documented a 2 minute process to add e-mail alerts when backups succeed. The details can be found at http://www.smallbizserver.net/Default.aspx?tabid=266&articleType=ArticleView&articleId

  • Ever wanted a "Microsoft" show that your customers could look at on how to use a server

This is just a very quick one. I found this interesting little tool on the web which is almost customer safe, but explains the value of a server. Download, customise the powerpoints and use when ever you are at an exhibition etc. This is the " Information Worker’s Guide to the Windows SBS Computer Network " and according to the site performs the following

  • Re: Tape Compression in the SBS Backup Wizard

Paulie, I got confirmation from the product team this morning, SBS Backup calls for compression if it is supported by the device, so if you have a tape unit that supports compression, it happens. The actual text they sent is below: In SBS2003, SBS Backup calls NTBACKUP.EXE to do the backup. SBS Backup automatically passes the backup script, generated

  • Re: Tape Compression in the SBS Backup Wizard

Paulie, I don't know the answer to this one. I think the answer is that it is not covered by default. There is a blog entry that starts to cover it and would need a bit of hacking to get working - you might want to have a look. I have asked internally, but I think this might be your best guide. http://seanda.blogspot.com/2004/10/sbs-2003-backup-hack_05

  • Re: Using MOM SPLA for monitoring

Hi guys, just saw that I had not replied to this. In the UK, two organisations sell SPLA licensing for MOM - they are HP & Software Spectrum - if you need contact details, ping me a note. Information on the licensing can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/serviceproviders/licensing/understandingspla.mspx The best person in the UK who understands

  • Leave, holiday, R&R, time off, painting the nursery or Vacation - I will try to take some

Hello, it is that time of year for me where I need to take some time off to do family things, namely build and paint a nursery – I have a wonderful daughter and baby number 2 is due to arrive mid-June, so I am shortening the distance I will travel to Partner Groups and trying to make sure I remember what 6 hours unbroken sleep feels like as I
