hi David, Can we have a new category heading for Sharepoint discussions? I am keen to learn more about this feature of SBS/Server 2003, and it would be interesting to learn of the usage/issues that other members are having, and of any tips etc. (Even though I doubt that in the UK that it still remains a mystery for the SME market!) Regards Andrew

  • Re: Backup Failiure

Good evening Jules, Just my 2c, ---> When were the SP installed? - if recently then I have seen this problem before and it is probably due to the SP overwriting the storage driver used for the backup device - you should be able to reinstall the driver again and the problem will go away. If this is not the solution, then I would look for an updated

  • SBS 2003 Patching Guidelines

Hi fellow SBSers What are your generally accepted guidelines regarding patching of a SBS server? I appreciate that this for many SME's the SBS box is their only/critical server, and that therefore we cannot allow a rogue patch to bring it down (or not install it - leaving a potential vulnerability open), however, I do get frustrated by the potential

  • Re: Vista Beta for SBSC?

Cheers Jules, but I tried to register for the Vista Beta but it was for cert/gold partners only or developers I recall. I guess I could always have a sneak preview with a mates technet and produce a quickie video for my next onsite presentation, I just thought it would have been nice thats all, since my developer chum is a bit reclusive " /> (very geeky

Brilliant, thank you. It would a favourite for you - you get to use Vista 12 months before the other 6 billion potential "users" on the planet! And I guess the answer to SA is to highlight the SBS SA options which will keep them current for all of their softwares, not just the upgrade path to Vista? Thanks again Andrew

  • Vista Beta for SBSC?

Hi, We are less than 6 months away from RTM of Vista, and still we know little about it. Just like you showcased it for us in Manchester, is there any possiblilty of making the Beta available for SBSC members?, or even a demo CD of the various screen shots so that we can answer questions that we encounter. When we offer the Win XP solution now, with

  • SPLA - Hosted Server

Hi, What I am looking for is to host a SBS server (std) and licence it via SPLA to a particular client. I have joined the managed services yahoo group, but they seem to deal only with the managed side (ie monitoring), and the Service Provider community are more on the hosting side. As the "middle man" I am not sure how to go about installing SBS via

  • Re: SBS 2003 Migration to new hardware

Great, thanks David, I thought it could do all that wonderful stuff, but I was reluctant to invest tons of time to find out just in case it didn't! (at least now, if it does not work, then the problem is with me!) Looks like I need to escalate the installation of VS nearer to the top of my current project list, since I can see a huge potential for this

Virtual Server looks real cool. I did some initial reading on it a few weeks back and I was mightily impressed by what it could do. It is worth looking through the various webcasts on the features, as it certainly showcases the way MS are moving in the virtualisation direction. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/virtualserver/techinfo/events
