  • Windows Intune book chapters

I'm now about 1/2 way through the Microsoft WIndows Intune book, which is great. Please feel free to ask any questions as I can always incorporate the answers into the book. I thought I would share the chapters for everyone which are: 0. Preface 1. Overview of Cloud Computing 2. Introduction to PC Management Concepts 3. Overview of Windows Intune

  • Re: can you run microsoft office 2010 at the same time as 2007

Have you looked at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2121447 ? This talks about the right order to install the products to make it work. You will need to uninstall Office 2010 before you load 2007. Thanks David

  • Windows Intune - the book and me

It is time for me to admit my next project, now that I've finally submitted the first chapter, and that is that I'm writing about Windows Intune. Those who have worked with me in the past will know that I'm not much of a "koolaid" person, but I do believe that Cloud Services will be the way of the future and I think that Windows

  • Re: Migration issues

Hi Matt, have you looked at sections on Technet such as http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd540850(WS.10).aspx I would also check what is / isn;t working. If it is just WSS then things should be fine. If AD replication or Exchange is not fully functional then you might want to do a re-install / migration to ensure things are going smoothly

  • Re: Migration of sbs2003 to sbs 2008

Hi, this is not a simple process. The SBS 2003 box cannot be retained without a rebuild. The change in domain name cannot be delivered without building a brand new domain and re-creating the users. There are some tools here that can help, including the built in tools for SBS 2011, but this is a non-trivial exercise. You will basically be exporting everything
  • Re: Migration of sbs2003 to sbs 2008

Lots of questions to this: 1) Are you saying you want to keep your SBS 2003 box and use it - either as a 2nd server or to have SBS 2011 installed on it? 2) Do you want to keep the existing AD or throw it away? 3) How many users? I can answer for now and say that you are unlikely to be able to use your original box unless it has the horsepower required
  • Re: Is a firewall router for SBS 2008 important?

John, Your SBS 2008 system is no longer the security interface that everyone goes through, so for that reason you must use a firewall on your network. With SBS 2003 you could have 2 x NICs - one facing the internet and firewalled and one internal that all your PC's communicated via and connected to your LAN. On SBS 2008 you can only have 1 NIC,

  • Loading SP1 beta onto a Hyper-V R2 system

I was keen to play with the Hyper-V R2 Service Pack 1 features, so I decided to download and install it, however I could not find anything that was not for Windows 7 or Windows Server (as opposed to Hyper-V Server).  After asking internally I was pointed to what I needed.  The process was fairly simple:   Download the SP1 beta from the
