Where to get lots and lots of information on BCM (Business Contact Manager) 2007

I found this blog and realised several things. 1) The Brelsford family (no, they are not related) are very good in the small business space.  2) I now have a BCM 2007 hero.

My PhotoWho am I talking about?  Bill Brelsford - http://blog.rebarbusinessbuilders.com/about.html - who says "For the past 20 years, I have been working with and for small businesses in a variety of roles."

I love BCM and here are some of the things he has written about BCM.  It is worth noting that Bill does not just write about BCM, but many things including marketing and many other issues that a small business would face.

BCM:

It has to be worth a look.

"Unable to complete last action"  when trying to create offline BCM database.

I thought I was an experienced BCM user.  I have two laptops that I removed the old offline databases on and now it won't let me create a new offline DB.

I have unistalled and reinstalled Office, tried a new user name & passwords, confirmed Firewall conditions, ports, etc.  Compared the cpu's to other working laptops and they look the same.

Any ideas???

I appreciate your help!

Hi all, we are a small busines who have purchased Outlook 2007 through our computer OEM.

What I want to know is; we are keen to utilise the business contact manager to its full potential and would like to know if anyone runs training courses on this in the UK??

Contacted Microsoft and was sent round the houses to no avail.  Help please!

I have Office Small Business 2007 installed with BCM.  I am using SQL Server as the shared database on a company LAN.  My question is this:  When I link a history item (file) to an opportunity, from my client machine, I can see that it exists AND open the file from within BCM.  This file is physically stored on my machine.  However, other people (from their client machines) can see that it exists in the history, but they cannot open the file.  The system comes back with an error message saying that the file cannot be found.  It then correctly displays the path for the file.  At first I thought it might be a permissions issue, but I've played with that a bit and I'm no longer sure.  Any ideas?

I'm unable to find a source for this file. MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ. I have an error message in Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager and now I receive an error message That it cannot load because this file cannot be located on my computer. Any help would be appreciated.

Joe,

The files would need to be stored on a shared folder and access to them as \\server\fileshare\filename for everyone to get access

thanks

David

Steve,

you need to load the SQL Database - it should be part of the install process
