Simple items in the SBS 2008 Console setup

The Console setup process (Once SBS is set up, how to do the basic configuration through the management console) has a few items that are just one or two screens, so rather than dedicating a separate post to them, here they are by themselves:

There are then the following steps that took me about 20-mins to complete:

1.  Read the document on how to use the SBS console

01 - How to Use the Console (1)  01 - How to Use the Console (2)

3.  Accept the Customer feedback option

03 - Customer Experience

5. Adding a trust certificate (I don’t have one, but I’ll show you the screen shot)

06 - Add trusted Cert

Problems I am getting....

in Finish installation issues

"view installation issues"

The server was not promoted to a domain controller (i've done that and rebooted and its still there)

-connect to the internet I get all the way to the end and get " windows SBS did not properly configure your e-mail. to correct this, re-run this wizard."

Hi FCS - was this a migration or clean install.  If this was a migration I would check the settings in the migration configuration file as it sounds like it failed to see the other DC to promo into.  If it was a clean install then it sounds like the network settings were not happy.  I've seen this sort of problem when more than one NIC was in the existing system.

Exchange won't install if you are not a DC
