Setting up your internet connection in SBS 2008 console

The Console setup process (Once SBS is set up, how to do the basic configuration through the management console) sets up SBS 2008 for use.  One of the first steps is setting up the internet connection.  This is the process I followed:

02 - Connect to the internet 02 - Connect to the internet (2)

The routines automatically detected the router IP address – I had not set it anywhere

02 - Connect to the internet (3)

Then finished off

02 - Connect to the internet (4) 02 - Connect to the internet (5)

The process of enabling others to communicate with SBS and setting up firewall etc can be found here  . Finally, all the SBS 2008 entries can be found at http://davidoverton.com/blogs/doverton/archive/tags/SBS+2008/default.aspx

Pierre,

Could you send me a screen shot or share a comment with the error messages you are seeing here?  Since you have tried it 20 times and it fails each time, it sounds like there is something in your network that SBS does not like.

Thanks

David

I have set up the SBS 2008 with two nic's. one for external network (internet) and the other for internal network.

I put IP address manualy on the nics to get internet connection and i was connected.

the problem is i cant run pop connector nor the internet domain name until i run the internet wizard.

however everytime i run the wizard it detect the router IP, but disables my internal card and refused to take any address i input on the server IP.

Any idea what is the problem?

itumeleng - SBS wizards only support a single NIC solution.  This is the problem.

Thanks

David

thanks david, my router has a static IP (196....)

so when the wizards detects sees the router IP, it automatically assigns my server IP to be( 196....2), which i need to change to internal IP, but when i do change it to 192.168.16.2, it still gives me an error that the server IP has to be private. that does not make sense to me..
